Indonesia 2025. Day 22. Back to Makassar

Last night, when all work was done, we five met socially for dinner. Nur chose The Hill Cafe, way high on the mountain that bounds Palu to the west. The car growled as it crawled the steep slope, but the view from the top was absolutely spectacular. The Cafe is part of Doda Hotel, which every night turns on the bright lights of the terrace and the swimming pool, and allows the Cafe guests to stroll along the terrace and enjoy the spectacular view. The place is very popular, but this time was packed because the governor of the province was there with his cronies. He even condescended to sing a song for the audience!

We were there to enjoy each others' company for one last time, and talked about this and that until I asked everyone where they would like to travel. Mawar and Noval are scared at the idea of getting out of Palu, and would rather stay in the coziness of their homes, but Nur told me she really wanted to go to this place in northern Norway whose name she couldn't remember. "Tromsø?" I prompted. "Yes!" she answered gleefully. How is that for a weird place to chose? "But why?" "Because I want to see the Northern Lights", she answered with a smile. Dear Nur, I hope your wish comes true.

Today we dragged our feet getting up, because our 10:30 am flight had been rescheduled to 12:30 pm (and ended being at 1:30 pm). No worries because we didn't have any major plans beyond traveling from Palu to Makassar. Once in Makassar we had reserved a room at the airport hotel, because the day after tomorrow we have a 5:45 am flight and didn't want to deal with finding a taxi at that ungodly hour.

Unfortunately the airport at Makassar is being renovated, so there are not really many places to eat, or anything fun to do here. We had a late lunch/early dinner of noodles with a lot of goodies, and then we are being lazy. The room is very small, so I chose to come out to the restaurant to write this note, and then I will use the magic of Amazon Prime to watch a movie before going to bed.
